Velež mountain peak Brasina (1897 m a.s.l.)

Driving about 10 km from Mostar, you come to the mountain area of Podveležje. Driving along the road you can see the remains of two Austro-Hungarian fortresses, “Fortica” and “Merdžan Glava”, and you can visit them by taking a detour on foot in just a few minutes. The path starts at Šipovac (859 m a.s.l.) and leads up to the refuge located at the bottom of the Brasina peak (1450 m a.s.l.). An hour of walking provides a unique view of the peak Brasina (1897m a.s.l.). From the shelter Brasina is very beautiful view to valley Bijelo Polje, Neretva river and to the mountains Prenj, Čvrsnica and Čabulja. The only well with drinking water is near the shelter.
From the shelter path continues trough the old military road to the top. From the peak Brasina you can see almost all Herzegovina, and mountains Prenj, Čvrsnica, Čabulja, Bjelašnica, Visočica and Crvanj.
